Generation of Equine iPSCs

Generation of Equine iPSCs

Equine iPSCs not only hold promise for the veterinary field, but also offer the opportunity to validate stem cell-based therapies using horses before entering the human clinical setting. Creative Bioarray is committed to providing efficient technical support to help clients reprogram various equine somatic cells into iPSCs and examine their pluripotency characteristics. Our specialized scientific services will help you explore the therapeutic potential of equine iPSCs for muscle injury.

Equine iPSCs

The domesticated horse is of great value in sports and recreational fields and has great potential as an excellent model for certain human diseases, particularly muscle, tendon, joint and ligament injuries. Musculoskeletal injuries or diseases are very common in these large animals, and damaged cartilage, ligaments and tendons are poorly healed not only in horses but also in other species. Although autologous mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) transplantation has been shown to improve the early healing response of equine articular cartilage lesions, it does not enhance long-term tissue repair.

iPSCs hold great promise for future regenerative therapies for diseases that are incurable today. Scientists have proposed that the use of iPSCs could avoid the drawbacks of MSC transplantation therapies because these cells can not only be expanded in vitro in large numbers, but can also be directed to differentiate into various specific cell types. It has been proposed that equine iPSCs can be reprogrammed from a variety of equine somatic cells and be differentiated into multiple cell and tissue types for disease modeling including myotubes, neurons, osteoblasts, and tendons. These reprogrammed iPSCs showed the direct differentiation capacity required for musculoskeletal injury repair and have encouraging therapeutic potential in equine injury disease models.
